What is Chen Et Al. - 2016 - Characterization and Antibacterial Activity of Silver Nanoparticles Prepared With A Fungal Exopolysa about?

This study presents a method for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using a high molecular weight exopolysaccharide (EPS1) derived from the medicinal fungus Cs-HK1. The AgNPs demonstrated antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria while exhibiting low cytotoxicity to murine macrophage cells. The optimal conditions for AgNP formation were identified as 10 mM AgNO3, 1.0 mg/mL EPS1 at 100 °C for 60 minutes.
