Since the third edition of "An Introduction to the Indian Government Accounts and Audit", several changes have been made to audit and accounting procedures, making it useful to issue a revised fourth edition incorporating these changes. The arrangement of chapters remains the same as the third edition. While legislation prescribing the duties of the Comptroller and Auditor General is still pending parliamentary approval, there was demand for an up-to-date version, so waiting was not expedient.
