Can I read The slow combustion of the isomeric xylenes I—Meta- and para-xylene on EtoBox?

The slow combustion of the isomeric xylenes I—Meta- and para-xylene by J.A. Barnard; B.M. Sankey is a Engineering article available to read on EtoBox.

What is The slow combustion of the isomeric xylenes I—Meta- and para-xylene about?

Experimental results concerning the slow combustion of meta-and para-xylene in the temperature range 460 o to 512°C have shown the almost identical behaviour of these two isomers. Kinetic dependences and oxidation products observed in the present work have indicated that this similarity of behaviour extends to the basic mechanism responsible for oxidation. The autocatalytic nature of the reaction is attributed to the formation of formaldehyde, which behaves as a degenerate b?anchin8 intermediate. A mechanism is presented which satisfactorily explains the observed combustion characteristics of meta-and para-xylene.
