What is The Shadow 112 Death by Proxy about?

DEATH BY PROXY was originally published in the October 15, 1936 issue of The Shadow Magazine. I wasn't sure, at first, what the title meant. But soon into the story, it is explained that the title refers to the sinister practice whereby evil henchmen kill their victim, then have a stooge look-alike pretend to die in front of witnesses in an obvious accident. Later the victim's body is switched for the living look-alike, and the perfect murder has been committed! An apparent accident, in reality murder! That's what's happening in this story. Someone is out to kill the heirs to the Lengood fortune. Not just kill them, but make it appear that no foul play was involved. To this end, they involk death by proxy. Someone else is to die in their place, in an accident. To accomplish this, they need a proxy: a man who can fake is own death. Someone who can appear to all but the most trained medical men to be dead. That's where a man called Dagbar comes in.
