This study assessed the levels of hepatic and cardiac enzymes in 80 adult male alcoholics and 40 non-alcoholic controls in Ilorin, Nigeria. Results indicated that both mild and chronic alcohol consumption significantly elevated plasma enzyme levels, with chronic alcoholics showing the highest enzyme activities. The findings highlight the detrimental effects of alcohol on liver and heart health, emphasizing the need for awareness and intervention regarding alcohol abuse.
