Group 2: chi-square 28.4, AUC 0.79, Group 1: chisquare 27.3, AUC 0.80). When log(BNP) was added to these models, the independent predictive value of POST in Group 1 was removed, and log(BNP) became the only independent predictor of TRUCHF (chi-square 4.4, pϭ0.035). This improvement is attributable to the use of BNP result. Despite this, the predictive value of POST estimate was not significantly superior in the BNP group compared to the No-BNP group. Further study to clarify the marginal value of BNP testing for CHF diagnosis in the ED setting is warranted.
