Rosa is a servant girl who works for a mistress who drinks and sometimes hits her. While doing laundry, Rosa encounters a kind man named Pedro who helps her after she falls and hurts her ankle. Rosa develops an infatuation and fantasy about Pedro, naming him her "Angel." However, reality intrudes in the form of Sancho, a man who harasses Rosa, and Pedro, who does not recognize Rosa when they meet again by chance. Rosa realizes her fantasy did not match the reality of her situation.
