What is VEGF Inhibition Enhances Liver Repair in Zebrafish about?
This study investigates the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling in liver repair following acute ethanol-induced injury using a zebrafish model. Inhibition of VEGF signaling was found to enhance liver repair by reducing hepatic steatosis, angiogenesis, and fibrogenesis, primarily through effects on hepatic stellate cells. The findings suggest that targeting VEGF signaling may be a potential therapeutic approach for alcoholic liver disease (ALD).
