Jamdani is a fine muslin textile produced in Bangladesh for centuries using a mixture of cotton and gold thread. It was historically patronized by Mughal emperors but declined under British rule. In recent years, production has witnessed a revival in Bangladesh. Jamdani weaving was declared intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2013 and received geographical indication status in 2016, recognizing it as uniquely associated with Bangladesh.
