What is Eight-Hour Labor Law Ruling: SMB Case about?

The Supreme Court ruled that the Eight-Hour Labor Law does not apply to employees paid on a piece-work basis, such as the respondent workers in this case. While the Court of Industrial Relations had applied the law, the Supreme Court overturned this decision, finding that piece-work employees fall outside the scope of the Eight-Hour Labor Law. Additionally, the Court ruled that watchmen and security guards are entitled to 25% extra pay for work done on Sundays and holidays according to existing labor laws.
