Nanocellulose films were produced using a semi-industrial roll-to-roll pilot line. Nanocellulose dispersion was cast onto a moving web to form an even, uniform layer which was then dried and delaminated. The resulting films were 20 μm thick, strong, transparent with excellent oxygen barrier and printing properties. Tests indicated the films were non-toxic and biodegradable but had moisture sensitivity that could limit applications.
