This study focuses on the marker-assisted pyramiding of potato late blight resistance genes Rpi-rzc1 and Rpi-phu1 to enhance resistance in cultivated potatoes. The research successfully transferred the Rpi-rzc1 gene from Solanum ruiz-ceballosii to tetraploid potatoes and identified progeny clones with both resistance genes. This strategy aims to produce potato cultivars that are durably resistant to late blight, reducing reliance on chemical controls.
