About this document

Role of DYT1 in Arabidopsis Anther Development by AJMR is a document available to read on EtoBox.

DYT1 encodes a putative bHLH transcription factor in Arabidopsis that is required for proper tapetum development and function. The dyt1 mutant exhibits abnormal tapetal cells with excess or enlarged vacuoles and lack of dense cytoplasm, as well as failed meiotic cytokinesis in meiocytes. DYT1 is strongly expressed in tapetal cells during late anther development and at lower levels in meiocytes. Expression of DYT1 is reduced in the spl/nzz and ems1 mutants, suggesting it acts downstream of these genes. RT-PC
