The WASH HELPS study evaluated the impact of a comprehensive water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) intervention in 100 primary schools in Laos on pupil health and school attendance. Results indicated no significant impact on pupil absence or health outcomes, even among schools with high adherence to the intervention. The findings suggest that while WASH interventions may create a supportive environment, they may not be sufficient alone to improve educational and health outcomes.
