## ~bdrsct-Aromatic and alipbatic dithiccstera, many of them new, have been easily synthesized m exallent yields by the ester interchange reaction between carboxymethyl dithioeaters and mcrcaptans. PMR spectra of these dithioeaters and the corresponding oxygen analogues show that a strong anisotropic dcshielding effect is associated with the highly polarized thiocarbonyl group. Compounds with R = aromatic are red and those with R = aliphatic are yellow. Yields are of 85-91%. ' Measured in CDCl, at 100 MHz with TMS as internal standard.
