therapy despite tumor response and the quality of life (QOL) of the patients suffered from esophageal stenosis after radiation therapy decreased. The purpose of this study was to clarify the predictive factors correlated with esophageal stenosis after radiation therapy for locally advanced esophageal cancer. Materials/Methods: The patients were 94 patients with advanced esophageal cancer with T2-4, Stage II-III in treated with definitive radiation therapy at Kyushu University Hospital between January 1998 and December 2005. All patients were performed esophagography within a month after completion of the radiation therapy and evaluated esophageal stenotic ratio. The stenotic ratio was classified in four stenotic levels; 1, 0-24%; 2, 25-49%; 3, 50-74%; and 4, 75-100%. We estimated the correlation between esophageal stenotic levels after radiation therapy and various factors of patient characters, tumor, and therapy. Results: The number and ratio of patients of each stenotic level is as follows; level 1: 18 and 19%, level 2: 13 and 14%, level 3: 26 and 28%, level 4; 37 and 39%. The ratio of stenotic level 4 were 58% of T4 cases, 68% of full involved circumstance cases and 73% of the
