Rebuilding path to inst on Solaris is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This document describes how to rebuild the "/etc/path_to_inst" file on a Solaris Sparc system by booting from installation media, mounting the system disk, removing device files, running devfsadm or older commands to rebuild the path_to_inst file and device trees, and rebooting the system. Additional steps may be needed to reinstall third party disks.
