What is La Leyenda del Origen del Mate about?
The story describes how the moon (Yaci) and evening cloud (Araí) took human form to experience the earth. While exploring the forest, they encountered a jaguar but were saved by an old Guaraní hunter. The hunter invited them to his humble home where he and his family shared their food. Later, Yaci and Araí rewarded the kind family by planting mate trees in front of their home. Yaci taught the hunter how to prepare mate tea from the leaves. This is how mate drinking originated among the people of the region
