What is Belonging about?
This research article examines the experiences of khwaja sira, a marginalized transgender community in Pakistan, focusing on their housing insecurity and the politics of naming as they seek belonging. Through qualitative interviews, the study reveals how khwaja sira create alternative kinship networks and communal homes, known as deras, to navigate social exclusion and assert their identities. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of gendered subjectivity and resilience within postcolonial Islam
