An indicator diagram plots the pressure variations in an engine cylinder over one or more engine cycles. There are two main types of indicator diagrams: pressure-volume (p-v) plots and pressure-crank angle (p-theta) plots. The main types of engine indicators are piston indicators, balanced diaphragm indicators, and electronic indicators.
