The study investigated the presence of the p75 pan-neurotrophic receptor (p75NTR) in platelets and compared it to the receptor found in brain tissue. Western blot analysis detected a band in human platelet lysates consistent with the size of the full-length p75NTR receptor expressed in human cortex. Differences in molecular mass between platelets and cortex suggest different post-translational modifications of the receptor.
