This study evaluated ficain activity in different fruit samples of Ficus carica Linn. Ficain was extracted from raw, ripened, and dry fig fruits and partially purified using DEAE-cellulose chromatography. Caseinolytic activity assays were performed on crude and purified enzyme samples. The purified enzyme from fruits showing highest activity was used to synthesize silver nanoparticles, which were then analyzed.
