Charles Wilson Peale was a famous American artist who painted portraits of many prominent figures of the American Revolution, including George Washington. He later founded the Peale Museum, the first popular museum of art and natural science in America. Three of his sons, including Raphaelle and Rembrandt Peale, also became famous artists.
