This patent application describes a process for producing polyoxymethylene homopolymers or copolymers from methanol in a three plant system. In the first plant, methanol is oxidized to produce an aqueous formaldehyde stream. This stream is fed to the second plant where pure trioxane is obtained through distillation and removal of low boilers.
