This randomized controlled trial examined the effect of non-pharmaceutical methods of labor pain relief on postpartum depression. 320 women were randomly assigned to an intervention group that received non-pharmaceutical pain relief during labor or a control group. Depression was assessed before labor and 8 weeks postpartum using the Edinburgh questionnaire. Results showed no significant difference in prenatal depression between groups.
