What is 2020 FO Sulphur Cap Compliance Options about?

The IMO has confirmed that the global cap on sulfur in fuel oil will decrease to 0.5% starting January 1, 2020, while the existing 0.1% sulfur cap inside Emission Control Areas will remain unchanged. Ship owners have several options to meet the new requirements, including using distillate fuels, compliant low-sulfur fuels containing 0.5% sulfur, gas as a marine fuel, or installing sulfur abatement technology to continue using higher sulfur fuel oil.
