What is Iron Extraction from Haematite Process about?

Iron is extracted from its oxide ore, haematite, in a blast furnace. The ore is concentrated, roasted to remove impurities, and then reduced with carbon in the blast furnace. Hot air and coke are injected into the bottom of the furnace, where the coke reacts with oxygen to produce carbon monoxide that reduces the iron oxide into liquid iron that is tapped off the bottom, while the impurities form a slag that floats on top.
