It was the most important capital in South America until the mid-18th century and has many architectural monuments like the large convent of San Francisco. Lima is also one of the most important fashion cities in South America, hosting an annual fashion week called Lima Fashion Week or Lif Week since 2011 that allows Peruvian designers to showcase their designs nationally and internationally.
