What is Effective synthesis of wholly aromatic polyketones using 2,2′-diaryloxybiphenyl and arenedicarboxylic acid derivatives via Friedel–Crafts type acylation polymerization about?
Treatment of 2,2 0 -bis(aroylphenoxy)biphenyls with arenedicarbonyl chloride in the presence of AlCl 3 afforded the corresponding wholly aromatic polyketones. Among three acyl-acceptant monomers screened, 2,2 0 -bis(4-benzoylphenoxy)biphenyl (2a) is the most efficient acyl-acceptant monomer for the synthesis of wholly aromatic polyketones. The polyketones derived from acyl-acceptant monomer 2a show excellent solubility to organic solvents and sufficient heat-resistibility.
