The Philippine Guarantee Corporation was created through a series of presidential decrees and laws to facilitate international trade and development projects. It was formed in 1977 as the Philippine Export and Foreign Loan Guarantee Corporation and has since been retitled and expanded. In 2018, Executive Order 58 merged several guarantee organizations under the corporation and renamed it as the Philippine Guarantee Corporation to consolidate guarantee programs and funds.
