In the largest German Pentecostal church, the Association of Pentecostal Churches in Germany (Bund Freikirchlicher Pfingstgemeinden), an intensive clarification process concerning the topic of leadership has taken place. In addition to an analysis of this process, differences within several Pentecostal churches on how to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic are presented in this article. Using two examples, the mainline churches' view of Pentecostalism is discussed and situated in the current discourse by way of an excursus on the history of Pentecostalism.
