Bokors are sorcerers or priests in Haitian Vodou who are said to practice both light and dark magic. They are often associated with creating zombies through the use of poison to make victims appear dead, only to later reanimate them and force them to do manual labor. Bokors create talismans called ouangas to house spirits, and are also said to be able to capture souls or spirits to enhance their own power. They typically work with certain Vodou spirits like Baron Samedi and Loas of the forest.
