What is Mexican Legend of the Sun and Moon about?

A Mexican legend tells of a time when the earth was in darkness, prompting powerful beings in the sky to create the Sun. Two candidates emerged, one rich and proud, the other poor and humble; ultimately, the brave poor candidate jumped over a bonfire to become the Sun. The rich candidate, embarrassed, followed suit, but was turned into the Moon after the other powerful beings decided there could only be one Sun, using a rabbit to diminish his brightness.
