What is 421 Is isotretinoin safe in patients with acne and inflammatory bowel disease? about?
Rituximab (RTX) is a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20, a transmembrane protein expressed on B cells, causing B cell depletion. RTX has shown high efficacy in studies of pemphigus vulgaris, but data of pemphigoid diseases are limited. The objective of this retrospective observational study was to assess the effectiveness and safety of RTX in pemphigoid diseases. The medical records of patients with pemphigoid diseases that were treated between 2010 and 2017 with RTX were reviewed. Early and late endpoints, defined according to international consensus, were disease control (DC), partial remission (PR), complete remission (CR) and relapses. Safety was measured by reported adverse events. Patients (n1⁄428) with bullous pemphigoid (BP; n1⁄48), mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP; n1⁄414), epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA; n1⁄45) and linear IgA disease (LAD; n1⁄41) were enrolled. Treatment with 500mg RTX (n1⁄46) or 1000mg RTX (n1⁄422) was administered on day 1 and 15. Eight patients received additional 500mg RTX at month 6 and 12. Overall, DC was achieved in 67.9%, PR in 57.1%, and CR in 21.4% of the cases. During follow-up 66.7% patients relapsed. Repeated treatment with RTX led to re
