What is Genetic Diversity of African Yam Bean about?
This study analyzes the genetic diversity of African yam bean (AYB) using 36 cowpea-derived SSR markers across 67 accessions. Thirteen SSRs showed transferability, with eight amplifying over 60% of AYB accessions and generating 55 polymorphic fragments, indicating a high level of genetic diversity. The findings suggest that the genetic resources of AYB can be effectively utilized for crop improvement and comparative mapping with cowpea.
