The Prado Dam in Tolima, Colombia has caused various environmental problems due to human activity that harms the natural environment. Pollution from the dam affects much of the local population. Aquaculture farms near the dam produce organic waste that can settle on the bottom and cause eutrophication of the water. This leads to massive fish mortality and impacts other organisms in the reservoir. Upstream productive activities also deteriorate water quality through fertilizers and pesticides.
