Satyam Computer Services Limited, founded by the Raju brothers in 1987, became a major player in the IT services industry but collapsed in 2009 after Ramalinga Raju confessed to a massive accounting fraud of Rs. 7,800 crore. The fraud involved creating fake invoices, inflating revenues, and misrepresenting employee numbers, facilitated by a web of investment companies to divert funds. Following the scandal, Tech Mahindra acquired Satyam and rebranded it as Mahindra Satyam in June 2009.
