About this document
Vaccine-Induced Inflammation in Salmon by camila is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study investigated pigmented foci found in the muscle tissue of farmed Atlantic salmon. The salmon had been routinely vaccinated by injection. Histological examination revealed the foci resulted from granulomatous inflammation containing melanin-producing cells called melano-macrophages. The inflammation and melanin accumulation were likely induced by the mineral oil adjuvants used in vaccines administered via injection to the salmon. The condition was not found in wild salmon that were not vaccinated.
