Phosphate Phebra effervescent tablets are used to treat hypercalcemia and hypophosphatemia. Each tablet contains 1.936 g of monobasic sodium phosphate providing 500 mg of elemental phosphorus. The tablets are used to lower serum calcium levels by binding calcium in the gut and reducing absorption. They work by providing phosphate to restore normal phosphate levels. Common side effects include abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Overdose can cause hypocalcemia but this is usually reversible when the dosage
