1) A survey of 55 citrus orchards in Pakistan found that the incidence of Citrus Tristeza Closterovirus (CTV) ranged from 18-48% overall, with the highest incidence of 48% found in Bhalwal province. 2) Sweet orange varieties showed the highest infection rates of 37%, followed by sweet lime at 33% and grapefruit at 27%. 3) The high incidence of CTV is attributed to the existence of old citrus orchards serving as virus reservoirs and the use of infected budwood for grafting in nurseries.
