What is Thales of Miletus: Water as Origin about?

Thales of Miletus was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived from around 624-548 BC. He was one of the Seven Sages of Greece and is considered the first western philosopher. Thales proposed that water was the fundamental substance of the universe and that all things originated from water. He observed that water was necessary for life and all living things contained moisture. Therefore, he concluded that water was the first principle of the cosmos.
