What is UK Military Planning for Iraq Invasion about?

The US asked the UK to provide ground forces in southern Iraq in early 2003 as plans to deploy forces through Turkey became uncertain. CENTCOM proposed using a UK division in the south to augment US forces and allow the two major US commands to strike north quickly, with the UK mission being to seize, secure and control the rear area. This proposal aimed to merge Phases II and III of the campaign and provide a coherent transition to post-conflict operations without loss of US combat forces.
