What is Murder, Sweet Murder about?

Years before the likes of Richard Diamond, Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade, among many others, there was Tobin J. Miles, private investigator. P.I. Tobin Miles, a former San Francisco major crime detective, is hired by Ms. Trisha Walker, local nightclub singer, to investigate the murder of her estranged father Richard Gorde. His body was discovered by two young boys near Hayward after the shallow grave that held his body was unearthed following the massive Bay area earthquake in April of 1906. Little does P.I. Miles realize the brutal murder is but one of many committed by 24-year-old Annie Halfpenny. Posing as a man, she has managed to elude discovery by the police until the private detective sets out to find her. Born in Australia under the zodiac sign of cancer, she became Californias most prolific serial killer of the early 1900s, brutally murdering 23 individuals between 1902 & 1912. The case becomes all-consuming for P.I Miles, spanning four years. The investigation takes a tremendous toll on his family and nearly claims his life.
