Gabriel García Márquez was a Colombian author born in 1927 in Aracataca, Colombia. He published his first novel La hojarasca in 1955 and moved to Mexico City where he published The colonel has no one to write him in 1961. He is most famous for the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude published in 1967 which won him the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982. He died in 2014.
