What is Joint Leeds/Mount Vernon Brachytherapy Course about?

49 and 64 Gy3 and sigmoid 2 and 0.1 cm 3 doses of 140 and 260 Gy3, respectively. The colonoscopy showed telangiectasia and haemorrhagic spots on the anterior wall of the sigmoid that correlated with very high sigmoid 2 and 0.1 cm 3 doses. None of the patients has so far had late radiation cystitis. The three-dimensional magnetic resonance image-based high dose rate brachytherapy approach in cervical cancers is feasible in our setting. In our experience, the HR-CTV volumes are large and 0.1 and 2 cm 3 doses to the bladder and sigmoid are higher than the reported GYN GEC-ESTRO brachytherapy recommendations and previous studies from other institutions. The appropriate selection of applicators and further optimisation in a prospective cohort need to be explored. The results on clinical outcome (control rates and late sequelae) are reasonably comparable with other reported studies. The benefit of the magnetic resonance image-based brachytherapy approach in cervical cancers is being addressed by an international multicentre study (EMBRACE).
