Uses and Types of Bandages by Anna Marie Ilustre Comia is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Bandages are used to support injured limbs, limit swelling, maintain pressure on wounds, stop bleeding, hold dressings in place, and treat fractures. They make patients more comfortable. Elastic bandages should only be left on for 24-48 hours to allow blood flow and healing. Bandages should be removed at night to prevent restricted blood flow. Proper compression improves circulation to transport waste and nutrients to aid healing. When applying a bandage, reassure the patient and wrap firmly but not too tig
