This paper discusses the implementation of a Direct Power Control (DPC) method for Active Filters (AF) using p-q theory to mitigate harmonic currents generated by nonlinear loads. The proposed reduced switch AF design, which has two fewer switches than conventional models, demonstrates improved cost-effectiveness and performance in simulations. Results indicate that the DPC method effectively maintains a near-unity power factor and sinusoidal currents while compensating for reactive power.
