What is Fish Pituitary Gland: Structure & Use about?

The pituitary gland is located in the brain of fish. It can be collected through dissection of the scalp or through the foramen magnum. The gland is then preserved in alcohol or acetone before making an extract for injection to induce spawning. The extract is administered through two doses to female fish and one dose to male fish. The dosage varies depending on the fish species and source of the pituitary glands. Injections can be either homoplastic, using glands from closely related species, or heteroplast
