Mr. Mohamed Sameer Anwar K A, aged 30, had a nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swab tested for SARS-CoV-2. The test was done using real time RT-PCR and the results for the ORF-1ab gene and N gene were negative, indicating the sample did not contain COVID-19 RNA. The test targets a conserved region of SARS-CoV-2 and uses primer and probe sets for the ORF-1ab and N genes. A negative result does not rule out infection as it could be due to low viral load or mutations.
