What is Smiley : a Journey of Love about?
"An appealing and upbeat biography of a winsome dog with a plucky and compassionate owner." Kirkus Reviews On a cold wintry day in February 2004, a small Golden Retriever was rescued from a puppy mill by Joanne George, a veterinary technician from Stouffville, Ontario. He was born without eyes and a condition called dwarfism. Joanne named him Smiley because he always looked like he was smiling, even though the scars on his face showed that he had suffered in his short life. Eventually Smiley trained as a St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog, visiting hospitals, seniors homes, and schools to offer comfort and hope to those who were lonely of suffering. In time, Smiley would become an international social media star through Instagram and Facebook, and his many adoring fans have come to include Cesar Millan and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
